The idea is to minimize any cable clutter on the desks while making it easier to set up a device or tool.
So if I need to use a scanner, I can pull it from its drawer where it’s packed with a power and usb cable, and just plug it in.
Realizing that I need to add both a styled audio player and a spoilers / content warning shortcode for a thing I want to post…
Update: working on it…

Yea that part works now.
The audio player thing, I just gotta get into a working state. Appears styling the audio tag is not really a thing. So if you want custom players, you gotta do js stuff, which I was trying to avoid for broader support.
Some future confusion avoided… Got a USB cable tester just out of curiosity. I found:
Three actually bad cables. Two mini and one micro USB. One had clear rust marks. One had limited insertion depth. One showed no signs at all.
A bunch of mini USB and some micro USB cables don’t have the shield connected. Perhaps optional in the spec?
Mac USB-C cables have strange behavior of apparently tying the CC pins to ground/shield at one end? Either that or perhaps they have some internal electronics going on.
Okay so first off you go to the thrift store and find around 25 music compilation CDs from the 90s and the 00s.
You want to end up with exactly 492 tracks of popular music from around this time period. Get some Smash Mouth, Modest Mouse, Spice Girls and Weezer in there. Rip all the disks to your PC.
Put everything into a 574 track long playlist. Next time you have guests over, put on the playlist in shuffle mode and hide the player.
The game is won by keeping a straight face and no one else noticing throughout.
Who knows, maybe you won’t hit a single mouth-track.. Maybe. If you do, hope it’s not Spongerock.. Or Sexual Lion King… or Aammoorree…. or, well.. Good luck.
The playlist will be about 30 hours long, so there’s plenty replayability.
